The Reason
These three are my everything! I would do anything for them and am by their side … kinda hitched on… for as long as they’ll let me.
Now, thats not saying I don’t need my time away- or hiding in my closet (I keep the door open d they still have NO idea!! It’s the best!), anyone else have a stellar spot???
buuuutttt…I definitely enjoy being around them and watching them grow. I mean, how can we not?… they are us- the good and the bad, but themselves all at the same time. I get baffled by how one of my kids looks just like me and acts just like my husband. Her twin looks just like my husband and acts just like me. Then theres the third- she’s a mini me in every way… you have one too?
After realizing I had time…oodles of it during quaratine last summer, I re-evaluated my life, my priorities, and switched some things up to better myself. I guess you could call it a “Mid Life ‘CHANGE’ “… definitely not a crisis by any means.
I remembered my last attempt at publishing (what was called “I Loved You Before You Were Even Born”) my first book and saw the process in a totally different light this time around! I chatted with a few other local authors and decided to follow in their footsteps and begin the self-publishing path.
After some research and reconnecting with Carrie Vogel, my ah-mazing illustrator!, I finally saw that I could do it…So, I did!
When looking through a few old folders on my laptop, I realized that I had been writing books for 11 years and putting them to the side…until now.
I decided since I started this book’s process already, that I’d keep riding the wave and see where it goes. I am an optimist and always look for the positive in things- even if they are really crappy.
So, here we are. Illustrations done. Book edited. Self publishing name invented and a perfect logo to go with it. My personal branding kit created. Website started. Social media sites opened. Smile on my face again (this past year’s been a roller coaster). Pat on the back (from myself…because I’ve come to be my own cheerleader in this experience).
What are you proud of? What have you accomplished this past year?
